So I'm studying psych:

You know, for all the wonderfully funny jokes made at New Jersey's expense, they're making some pretty smart psychology-based changes to their legal system. They're the first state to abandon the traditional six-pack lineup style for eye witnesses and switch over to sequential lineups. (People often feel like they have to pick one of the people in a lineup, which leads to tons of people being incorrectly convicted. In a sequential lineup, the witness is shown each suspect one by one.)

New Jersey also just passed a law making it vehicular homicide to be the cause of a car accident involving a death if you should be driving while asleep. No more blaming sleep deprivation. You shouldn't have been driving in the first place! There are a ridiculous number of needless deaths each year due to sleepy drivers who have microsleeps at the wheel.
