Darn it, just days after I sign up with my colocation place in Chicago for a plan that includes 500GB of transfer per month, they increase that plan to 1500GB per month for the same price. I'll have to call them up and see if they can switch me over. It's probably silly anyway, since I don't see how in the world I'd use 500 gigs a month to begin with. (That was the smallest plan) I'd just feel silly not trying to take advantage of them tripling the offer...

I'm getting slightly annoyed at Tyan. I'm using one of their P4 server boards in this new server of mine. The motherboard itself is great... stable and full of features... it's just that I'm still waiting for them to release IMPI support. See, they have this cool nifty daughter card you can buy (which I have) that contains a mini self-sustained computer. It runs off of the standby power from the power supply. This daughter card taps into the motherboard's built-in ethernet jack so you can talk to it over the internet. It has a serial port on it that you can connect to the motherboard, and it also has a motherboard interface. From across the internet, I can tell this card to turn my motherboard on/off, I can get into the BIOS via the serial port (since my motherboard supports console redirection over serial port), I can get into a serial port linux console incase I do something silly like firewall myself out... heck, I could even reinstall linux with this thing. It just makes remote management so easy. The only problem is that Tyan has yet to release support for the daugher card on my motherboard. >_< My motherboard was only released a few months ago, so I guess they haven't finished everything... Anyway, they say they're done writing the new BIOS, it just has to go through verification and should be realeased soon... It has better. I've been waiting two weeks now, and I want to send my server out to Chicago and just be done with it. I'll have to send it in another month regardless.
