Status: Analyst James is here and your issue status is: working
Problem: E-mail/Can’t send E-Mail/Other
Ross> Hi, I'm an email administrator. I've recently been getting bounced messages from my domain, skaliotis.net, send by my smtp server. The bounce errors message is: "550 [PERMFAIL] comcast.net requires valid sender domain" This has just recently started happening.
James > Please wait, while the problem is escalated to another analyst
James > Thank you for contacting Comcast, my name is Jim & I will be happy to help you with your Internet service. So I can best assist you, would you provide additional details for the issue you are facing?
Ross> What additional details would you like?
James > Good evening, Ross. I understand that you cannot send email. Would you clarify that for me? Are you using webmail or Outlook Express?
Ross> I am using neither. I'm an email administrator, and messages sent by my domain skaliotis.net from my email server are bouncing back.
James > Thank you. I understand that your emails sent via your domain are not sent - I am unable to locate a Comcast internet account. Would you provide your account number?
Ross> I don't have a comcast account. This is an issue regarding sending non-comcast emails to your comcast email servers.
James > Thank you for that information. Whenyou try to send, you are getting bounces as I understand. Would you be able to copy into the chat an example of an erorr you are seeing?
Ross> "SMTP error from remote mailer after RCPT TO:<hedge-hog@comcast.net>: host gateway-s.comcast.net [63.240.76.26]: 550 [PERMFAIL] comcast.net requires valid sender domain"
James > Thank you. Are you trying to send using the Comcast SMTP server?
Ross> No, I'm an email administrator using my own server to send to a comcast.net address.
James > Ok - What I ask that you do to resolve this issue is to report all errors and headers for the situation and send that to abuse@comcast.net
James > They will be able to follow up with the issue with you
Ross> Is there a number I can call to reach a comcast email administrator?
James > The first contact must be via email at abuse@comcast.net.
