Jul. 21st, 2004 03:43 pmI played with my car today. It's an '87 bmw.
There's a little switch that gets depressed when you hit the pedal all the way to the floor. It's called the full-throttle switch. Generally, this switch causes the engine to down-shift giving you higher acceleration. It's a pretty safe bet that when you floor it you're looking for engine performance.
The annoying thing is that this switch does absolutely nothing above maybe 55mph. If you wanna pass someone quickly, it'll take a good 4 seconds to go from 65 to 85 or so. You can hardly even feel any acceleration. What I knew all along but stupidly didn't realize until today is that I can shift the engine myself. I just put it into 3 instead of D. The engine rpm jumps up from 3k to 5k giving me plenty of fun engine power even at 70mph. :-D Zoom.
