I found myself poking around at Scientology stuff tonight... Here's something that claims the organization's cruise ship is basically stuffed full of the very worst kind of asbestos. That's ok, though, because cancer is caused entirely by second dynamic aberrations, which are problems with relationships. Since the people who would be on the cruise ship are at least OT level VII, they're beyond that so it's not an issue.

I wonder what would happen if a major scientologist, one of the celebrities, were to get cancer. Would they be disowned? Hmm.

Update: You know... I think the fact that senior scientologists believe they're immune from cancer and are willing to stand by those beliefs in a very dangerous way changes what I think about the organization. Perhaps it is possible the highest scientology leaders are actually delusional. I always figured the highest unreleased OT levels said things like "Haha, you made it this far. Clear? Yup, you're clear now. Join in on our scam. Here's how I started it all," but maybe those people truly believe L. Ron's writings. Of course I'm not denying the fact that scientology ruins many people's lives and otherwise has many very serious issues... but maybe the leaders are perpetuating this system based on misplaced faith and ignorance instead of simple greed and the desire for power.

Of course I maintain that L. Ron knew damn well what he was doing, at least at the start. Perhaps the lines started to blur for him a bit later on when people began to worship him.
